Today, after a long and refreshing spring holiday, the children returned full of smiles and stories to share! Some had splashed in the sea, others visited relatives, trekked up mountains, or enjoyed the sunshine in local parks. A few explored exotic beauty salons, and believe it or not, some even rode camels! What a wonderful variety of adventures!
In their Russian lesson, Kapelki welcomed a special guest — Sailor Yura, who brought along some exciting activities. He was keen to know whether the children remembered his favourite letter — Ю. Could they spot it in words?
Oh, they had to think hard, but they rose to the challenge! Then, with Yura’s help, they practised reading, writing and inventing silly stories featuring the letter Ю. Everyone did brilliantly! Yura even checked their exercise books himself, and for one task, he asked the children to mark their own work. And guess what? Everyone earned a glowing “5” (top marks) on their first day back after the holidays. Now that’s impressive!
Our curious minds didn’t stop there. In natural science, the children explored the wonderful world of apples! With the help of Hedgehog and Squirrel, we carried out fascinating experiments, discovering what happens as apples ripen.
We compared the taste of starch vs. sugar, and used iodine to test for starch in fruits. Surprise! While potatoes were full of it, the apples had none at all — a sign they were perfectly ripe.
The children were amazed to learn that Hedgehog doesn’t eat apples at all — not even the juicy ones! He uses them for... hygiene? Yes! Squirrel, on the other hand, occasionally nibbles wild apples — “Like we do with sweets!” one child exclaimed.
The lesson ended with a burst of creativity in our “Crafty Hands” session, where the children made plasticine pictures of “Happy Hedgehog”.Thanks to their very own colourful plasticine sets, they sculpted cheerful scenes with joy and pride. Every picture was a tiny masterpiece!
Meanwhile, Zvezdochki were hard at work, tackling tricky math puzzles and logic riddles. They acted as code-breakers, solved number mysteries, and uncovered the secret behind a clever number trick.
Later, they helped a clever little hamster explore his burrow, sorting and charting his stash of food into a colourful diagram. A brilliant effort from our tiny mathematicians — such determination and sharp thinking!
Welcome, Nika! 🌟Today we were delighted to welcome Nika, who joined our group for the very first time. Wishing you lots of success in your learning journey and a joyful time with “Bukovka”!
