Spring is here—calling us to new discoveries!

Natural Sciences lessons

During their speech and natural sciences lesson, Zvezdochki explored and investigated plant roots. They discovered taproots that dig deep into the earth in search of nourishment—some reaching dozens of metres underground! Incredible! They also learned about fibrous roots, which really do resemble a tangled sponge with their numerous intertwined side roots. We marvelled at the aerial roots of orchids, admired the pillar-like roots of the banyan tree, and were amazed by the knee-like breathing roots of the swamp cypress. It felt as if we had stepped into an enchanted forest—what a perfect place for a game of hide-and-seek!

Before diving into our workbooks, we conducted an experiment with coloured water, watching in real time as the liquid travelled up the roots, nourishing the plants. So many discoveries in just one lesson—it was absolutely fascinating, almost magical!

Meanwhile, Kapelki were busy creating a delightful spring-themed plasticine miniature. With great enthusiasm, the children rolled tiny blue and green shapes—capturing the crisp freshness of new grass and the soft hues of a clear spring sky. And oh, how the meadow came to life, bursting with vibrant, multicoloured flowers! It was a sight to behold! They even wanted to add a butterfly to the scene, but time ran out—so next lesson, their little creative hands will bring that butterfly to life! 😊

But that wasn’t all! With our clever friend Smartie, we accomplished so much in our workbooks—venturing into the forest, the meadow, and the pond, where we met various springtime creatures. We played “Fix It!” by identifying animals from their silhouettes and had great fun creating silly, chain-reaction stories from random words. Our picture-based storytelling activity had everyone giggling as we crafted our own mixed-up tales.

During our break, we also had a special celebration—wishing Alexandra a very happy 5th birthday! With a cheerful round of "Kara-vai, Kara-vai...", we sent her our best wishes for success, wonderful friendships, and a mountain of gifts! 🎉🎂
