All of today’s lessons with Kapelki were somehow related to cats, even though spring is still far off—and everyone knows cats are particularly fond of that season.

Here’s how it went…

Kapelki and spacefaring cats.

During the Russian language lesson, the children worked alongside the character Kotovich the Cat, learning to recognise the sound “O” in words. I must say, they did an excellent job!

In maths, they embarked on an adventure with spacefaring cats, travelling to the Cheese Planet. Each cat identified their own home and managed to enter it by cracking a code. Everyone successfully settled in!

Next, it was time for a little break, during which the children played a lively game of cat-and-mouse. Afterwards, they eagerly headed to the cinema room, where an engaging and informative presentation awaited them. The children learned all about the history of cat domestication, their behavioural traits, the differences between various breeds, and much more. They discovered that cats “smile” with their eyes, the purpose of a cat’s whiskers, the differences between their front and back legs, how they see the world, why they meow, and plenty of other fascinating facts. They even had time for a brief chat about dogs! Every single child enthusiastically shared their opinions about these lovely creatures, recounting personal stories with genuine excitement and curiosity.

Zvezdochki, after some serious work during their Russian language lesson, were delighted to share stories about their closest friends. They drew marvellous portraits of them and spoke about the activities they enjoy doing together. One particularly touching highlight was hearing that many of them simply love laughing together. Isn’t that wonderful?

During the creativity lesson, everyone—both Kapelki and Zvezdochki—worked on a narrative painting titled The Dreaming Cat on the Rooftop. Some said the cat was dreaming of visiting the Cheese Planet, others thought he was counting snowflakes, and a few believed he had climbed the rooftop to ponder life… And what do you think the cat is dreaming of when you look at this painting?
